| Description | In the article the specific Prussian - South Slavic isogloss in designation of "smith" is discussed. All existing etymological attempts are analyzed, finally a new solution is proposed which is based on assumption of adaptation of the Iranian word for "metallic shield", hence "smith" = "shield-maker". |
