Description Three-months treatment with combined hormonal contraception resulted in statistically significant increased concentrations of triglycerides, total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, apolipoproteins A1 and B. At the same time, total cholesterol/HDL-cholesterol, and apolipoproteins B/A1 ratios have not changed significantly. Thus hormonal contraception-induces dyslipidemia should not be regarded as proatherogenic.
