Description The Yeast Commission of the Czechoslovak Society for Microbiology was estabilished by prominent Czechoslovak yeast scientists Drs. A. Kocková-Kratochvílová and E. Minárik in 1964. The purpose of the creation of the Yeast Comission (YC) was to bring together researchers from research institutions, universities and industry interested in yeast research in order to facilitate dissemination of new knowledge among them. After the split of Czechoslovakia into Czech Republic and Slovakia in 1993, the Czechoslovak Society for Microbiology as well as its Yeast Comission remained intact, continuing to integrate Czech, Moravian and Slovak microbiologists and yeast scientists respectively. The birth of the ICY took place during the 2nd International Symposium on Yeasts held in Bratislava in 1966.Assoc. prof. arie Havelková, MD., Ph.D. is a member of the International Committee of the Commission of yeasts at Czech-Slovak Microbiological Society and thus a member of conference organizing commitee.
