Description Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the most common cause of severe vision loss in developed countries in the population over 65 years of age. It is estimated that about 25 million people suffer from various forms of AMD in Europe, USA and Japan. Given the global trend of an aging of population prevalence and incidence of AMD will most likely continue to grow.
