| Description | Public restrooms seem to be a purely functional place. They sem to serve the purpose of excretion for people outside their homes. Thus, public restrooms connect the public and the private which places them at the itersection of realms that organize modern society. Conceiving public restromms in the context of modernity with its manifest effort to obliterate ascriptive social categories, it should not escape us that public restrooms remani the last vestige of acknowledged and legitimized segregation in public, that of segregation based on ascriptive sex category. |
