Description In the STAR project (2002-03) were taken 96 samples of oligochaeta in 24 streams of Morava River basin. Two main gradients of small stream (catchment 10-50 km2) impairment were studied: organic pollution (14 sites) and hydromorphological degradation (10 sites). Composition of oligochaetous clitellata assemblages was studied in relation to changes in both gradients using indexes calculated according River Habitat Survey methodology (UK Environment Agency 2003). “Oligochaeta” assemblages respond very sensitively on organic pollution, channel morphology and also presence and coverage of bankside vegetation.
