Description This article is focused on consequences of legal acts done through fear in ancient Rome. The development comes from inattention whether an act was done through fear (Coactus voluit, tamen voluit.) to granting protection by praetor Octavius’ edict (Quod metus causa gestum erit, ratum non habebo.) Possibilities of remedy, especially the actio quod metus causa coming from this edict, are also analysed.
