Description Tuberculosis, as one of the most feared diseases of a mankind, is gaining interest of physicians once again in recent years, due to the emergence of multidrug-resistant strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis resistant to known antibiotics. For this reason researches focused on the study of manifestations of tuberculosis on the skeletal remains of ancient populations are in high demand. The main goal of the research was to examine the applicability of molecular genetic methods for the analysis of skeletal material, in order to prove the presence of the pathogen M. tuberculosis in the bones, which were supposed to contain this pathogen under the paleopathological analysis.
