Description This work focuses on the problems of tradition and memory in the context of cultural identity and difference in the era of globalization. The process of globalization has been a major factor in world economic integration and unification for the past thirty-five years. This integration and unification process has been accompanied by an increase in individualism. Integration processes, mainly taking place in todays market economy, are being followed by the unification of all other aspects of human lives. Nevertheless, we can still find attempts to create and establish group identities and identifications, stemming from co-experienced history. A major role in this process is played by memory and tradition, both of which are manipulated relations to history, though. Being a way of preserving and extending spiritual values and heritage, philosophy is able to prevent the suppression of plurality and difference of identities.
