| Description | The application of several methods is demonstrated on the examples ofexamination of three various groups of pottery artifacts. These are approaches facilitating identification of used raw materials and firing temperatures – light and electron microscopy and microanalysis (SEM/EDX), X-ray diffractometry (XRD) includind high-temperetarure XRD), chemical analyses and experimental firings. The paper presents the results of petroarchaeological examination of the Loštice Pottery and of two groups of Late Neolithic pottery from the Upper Mesopotamia. Based on an experiment, the influence of garnet on the blebs formation in the surface of the Loštice Pottery was examined. Provenance studies and identification of firing conditions of the Late Neolithic pottery were carried out. All the presented approaches may also be applied for examination of modern ceramics. |
