| Description | Party switching is a long standing problem relevant both to the political and academical debate. This article focuses on party switching within the elected local authorities in the Czech Republic. The data sample consists of local councils in district towns of the regions Zlínský kraj and Vysočina, therefore including nine councils. Two points are examined in detail: How many times was each individual council member re-elected within the of the last two decades and whether they were re-elected from the same party lists or if their party affiliation changed over time. |
