Description In the Czech Republic, a significant increase in native speakers of languages other than Czech can be observed, although both Czech schools and the society see themselves as monolingual and monocultural as before. Many children and young persons grow up in bilingual environment or they learn Czech as a foreign language while using migrant languages in their families. An investigation at four schools in Brno which examined the overall language skills of the pupils, clearly shows that the Czech school has already become a multilingual one.
