Ethics

All research carried out at MU is conducted in accordance with ethical principles. Ethics issues associated with individual projects are assessed by the Research Ethics Board. This body provides scientists with a comprehensive service designed to address ethics issues encountered during their research work, from work with animals and genetically modified organisms to e.g. database protection.

Open Access

Masaryk University, as a signatory of the Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge in the Sciences and Humanities, remains committed to promoting free and unrestricted access to scientific publications. Masaryk University's strategy is based in particular on an acute awareness of the social and economic impact of open access on the results of publicly funded scientific research and on the university's key role in bringing this notion to fruition. Masaryk University is convinced of the long-term benefits of an unrestricted approach, especially since it benefits both the research community and the university itself by increasing the visibility and impact of its research.

Best practices in research

We strive to actively promote best practices in research. We have developed a series of documents designed to help especially newcomers and young scientists understand best practices in scientific publishing, bibliometric data processing and predatory magazine avoidance. We organize training sessions dedicated to issues such as researcher identity and science evaluation. We provide complete bibliometric services for both faculties and individuals.
