Resolution of the 295th Meeting of the Academic Senate of Masaryk University held on June 1, 2026
1. The Academic Senate of Masaryk University, in accordance with Section 9(1)(d) of the Higher Education Act, approves the Annual Report on the Activities of Masaryk University for 2025, as set forth in the appendix to the minutes of the meeting.
2. The Academic Senate of Masaryk University, in accordance with Section 9(1)(e) of the Higher Education Act, approves the Addendum to the Report on the Internal Quality Assessment of MU for the year 2025, as set forth in the annex to the minutes of the meeting.
3. The Academic Senate of Masaryk University, in accordance with Section 9(1)(d) of the Higher Education Act, approves the Annual Financial Report of Masaryk University for the year 2025, which forms an annex to the minutes of the meeting.
4. The Academic Senate of Masaryk University, in accordance with Section 9(1)(c) of the Higher Education Act, approves the investment and non-investment budget of Masaryk University for the year 2026 and the medium-term outlook for the non-investment budget of Masaryk University through 2028, as set forth in the annex to the minutes of the meeting.
5. The Academic Senate of Masaryk University approves the allocation of the 2025 financial results to the various funds in accordance with the proposal attached to the minutes of the meeting.
6. The Academic Senate of Masaryk University, in accordance with Section 9(1)(b)(2) of the Higher Education Act, approves the Rules of Procedure of the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Science, MU, in the version approved by the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Science, MU, on April 27, 2026, which is attached to the minutes of the Academic Senate meeting.
7. The Academic Senate of Masaryk University approves the substantive plan for the “Affordable Rental Housing” investment project.
8. The MU Academic Senate welcomes efforts to innovate the system of higher education governance through a new Higher Education Act and offers its expert participation and the sharing of MU’s best practices in the discussion of the proposed changes, including the introduction of associate professor and professor positions, the strengthening of institutional diversity, and the funding of public universities through multi-year contracts. Based on our experience with the governance and management system at Masaryk University, we consider it important in the discussion on the new Higher Education Act to highlight the positive influence of student and academic representation on the management of public universities and to warn against the risks associated with the politicization of public university governance.
