Course of the Modern Greek Language - Beginners (in Czech)

Upon completing the course, the student will be able to understand simple spoken Modern Greek, with a focus on everyday activities, and engage in conversations on basic daily-life topics (such as introductions, personal information, restaurant, etc.). They will also be able to comprehend simpler texts related to these topics, write short and basic texts, and apply the grammatical structures covered in the course.

Employment prospects

A graduate can apply their knowledge in basic conversations in Greek. They can also continue their studies in the Greek for Pre-Intermediate course.

The course initially focuses on mastering the Greek alphabet, basic greetings, and common communication phrases. It then develops simpler communication topics such as introductions, housing, family, studies, employment and restaurant, as well as fundamental grammar, including verbs in the present tense and the nominative and accusative cases of nouns and adjectives. The primary emphasis is on comprehension and spoken production through listening exercises and role-play dialogues, as well as on understanding and producing simple written texts, such as short articles and written exercises. Part of the course is also dedicated to Greek culture and society. Lessons are delivered in person once a week (two teaching hours).

Completion requirements

Active participation in classes, final test (in the case of completion with a certificate of attendance).
