All members of teaching staff at universities in the Czech Republic can register from now until 15 June in the central COVID-19 vaccination reservation system. To register, they need a unique code that must be issued by the faculty they work for and written confirmation that they are academic employees. MU employees will find this document in Inet.

The Czech government has added academic employees to the list of vaccine priority groups thanks to the joint effort of the rectors of all Czech universities; MU’s rector, Martin Bareš, played an instrumental role in this endeavour.

According to the latest statement from the Ministry of Education, all employees contributing to in-person teaching, with the exception of administrative workers, are eligible for vaccinations. Faculty leaders will have the final say about which employees can go for their shots.

Foreign academic employees of MU who have health insurance in the Czech Republic are entitled to vaccinations.

Thanks to an agreement between Masaryk University and the leadership of University Hospital Brno, the university has secured a sufficient number of vaccination slots for MU academic employees this week at the Brno Exhibition Centre. If you are interested in taking advantage of this opportunity, when registering select the vaccination site "FN Brno Výstaviště."

Registering and making an appointment on the internet

If you are interested in getting vaccinated, you first need to register at crs.mzcr.cz (only in Czech) by clicking on “Očkování krok – 1: Registrace” (Vaccination – step 1: Registration). In this step, you must enter your personal data, including your unique code. When registering, you may choose from any vaccination centre in the Czech Republic. From the offered priority groups, click on “Akademický pracovník VŠ” (Academic employee).

The second step is to make a reservation. To do so, on the same website, click on “Očkování – krok 2: Rezervace termínu“ (Vaccination – step 2: Book an appointment). To make an appointment, however, you must first receive a text message from your selected vaccination site. When booking an appointment, you must also enter various personal data once again.

Masaryk University is working in close cooperation with select vaccination centres to ensure that its employees get vaccinated as quickly as possible. If these centres receive doses that can be administered outside of publicly available vaccination times, they will contact MU employees who do not yet have appointments.

Details about registering and booking appointments for vaccinations can be found on the Ministry of Health’s special COVID-19 website, koronavirus.mzcr.cz. National vaccination coordinators can also answer your questions. You can write them at covid-podpora@nakit.cz or call the Covid-19 hotline (tel. no. 1221) daily from 8 a.m. till 7 p.m.
