The essence of the project is to prepare a monograph on a film director and scriptwriter Vojtich Jasný (b. 1925). He radically influenced the shape of Czech film culture in the 1950s and 1960s. After 1968, he went on cultivating his work in exile (West Europe and North America). His rich and innerly heterogeneous work contains more than fifty films (besides feature films for cinema, it includes TV films, documents and experimental films), from which a considerable part was realized abroad. It is possible to divide the study into two parts. In the first, historical comparative part, I will study the specific work in its appropriate contexts - social-historical, cultural, and cinematographic and I will try to put it into a historical coherence.
