The submitted project aims at analyzing valency frames of non-verbal valency carriers inheriting their valency potency from the respective
derivational base. The perspective is comparative as two different languages (German and Czech) are to be included in the project. The direct
confrontation of valency patterns associated with items of different lexical category but identical or similar lexical meaning is expected to
contribute to a better understanding of valency inheritance. The authenticity and representativeness of the used language material will be
guaranteed by using the electronic language corpora. The results of the study will be published in form of a German-Czech valency dictionary
as well as in a series of articles on valency inheritance in appropriate journals and conference proceedings. The specificity of the proposed
dictionary will be the derivational organization of the German entries (the leading language of the dictionary) and the alignment to entries for
translational equivalents in Czech (the subordinated language of the dictionary).
