Delta podjednotka RNA polymerázy z Gram pozitivních bakterií (DELTA)
To efficiently fight bacterial diseases and infections, knowledge of the molecular mechanisms used by these organisms is required. Bacterial RNA polymerase (RNAP) is an essential multisubunit enzyme. Contrary to the well studied RNAPs from gram negative bacteria, gram positive RNAPs contain the d subunit. Its role in the cell is not well understood. We propose to conduct structural, genetic, and biochemical studies to define its role in gene expression regulation. We propose to solve the 3D structure of delta, determine its position within RNAP, and use this new knowledge to define its physiological role in the cell.
