Banking sector in the Czech Republic has undergone substantial changes since 1990. Its development reflects basic tendencies of the banking sectors development in the world, on the other hand it bears many specific features. The aim of the grant applican ts is to provide a detailed analysis of some tendencies in the Czech banking sector development and to compare this trends with the development in the world. The applicants will focus on the process of central banking development and influence of the cen tral bank on banking, banking regulation and supervision, banking and monetary crises, competitiveness and efficiency in banking sector, mergers and acquisitions, capital interlacing and investment banking, electronic and virtual banking, accounting aspe cts of banking, European Monetary union and influence of EU banking on the Czech banking sector.
