INDETRUST seeks to understand the complex interrelations between inequality and democracy by analyzing the intersections between different dimensions of inequality and disentangling the effects of past policies aimed at reducing them. It starts out from the workplace and the inequality experienced here. It will develop an economic agent-based model to predict how various forms of inequality affect democratic legitimacy and, in parallel, use participatory action research and mutual learning labs to involve stakeholders and citizens in co-creating innovative policy solutions. By combining rigorous analytical modeling with inclusive, practice-oriented engagement, the project aims to generate actionable insights to strengthen democracy in an era of growing social and economic divides.
