Citation
Description The present text introduces initial results of an on-going dissertation project. The pre-research for this dissertation project was conducted in March 2013. Its aim was to test the functionality of the selected study tool and to assess the practical sphere application. The data was collected by semi-structured interviews with four students of the present master’s program of the Faculty of Pedagogy of the Masaryk University in Brno. The data was analyzed on the basis of qualitative content analysis and inductively created category system. The pre-research results fully comply with the current theories on foreign language learning motivation, i.e. Gardner’s socio-educational model (2005), self-determination theory (Deci & Ryan, 1993) and attributive theory (Williams, Burden, & Al-Baharna, 2001) and so far it has not brought any new findings. The conclusion of the article offers a short reflection on the asset of this pilot study and its impact on the further development of the dissertation project.
