Description The book focuses on the relationship between one's level education and other areas of social life, addressing questions pertaining to accumulation of dis/advantages on the opposite ends of the educational spectrum. In its 11 chapters, it takes a closer look at work and income, voter behaviour, and partnerships, as well as intentional self-harm, value orientations, and national identity of the Czech population. The results derived from these analyses then document that low-educated Czechs – when compared to their high-educated counterparts (and especially university graduates) – tend to suffer disproportionally a plethora of unfavourable outcomes; not only those related to work and income, but also those linked to lifestyles, marital life, or even suicide. The book also shows that little change in this link between ones' educational attainment and the selected outcomes took place over the past 30 years.
