| Description | In this paper, the author focused on the European Monetary Fund (EMF), whose establishment is currently (2017-2018) being discussed at the EU level. First, the author analysed the legislative grounds on which the EMF is to be built. Then he went on to compare the to-be-established fund with its “predecessors”, i.e. the European financial stabilisation mechanism (EFSM), European financial stability facility (EFSF) and the European Stability Mechanism (ESM). Last but not least, the author pointed to the possible EMF´s function as a common backstop in the terms of the resolution pillar of the banking union. |
