| Description | The chapter explores possibilities of universalistic grounding of human rights. It builds on the thesis that human rights are a normative (liberal) project, which in turn seeks objectivist grounding in reality, which renders some mainstream defences of the universality of human rights (such as Jack Donnelly's) unpersuasive. As a way out of the deadlock, I suggest combining social evolutionary understanding of morality with a specific (minimalist) version of public justification. |
