Description As part of a quantitative empirical survey, the project first focused on the research of the public and its perception and evaluation of mediation. The representative survey was conducted in the autumn of 2018, which showed that awareness of mediation among the general public is very low, which may be related to a short tradition of this method in the Czech environment, insufficient promotion or low motivation to offer and use mediation. At the same time, even laypersons from the general public have a positive attitude towards using mediation on a more frequent basis. As an indicator of socio-economic status, values and lifestyle, completed education plays an important role in data analysis. Above all, awareness of mediation is many times higher in the group of respondents with a university education than in categories with lower education. Among other things, mediation can thus be a tool for reducing inequalities in society, provided that it is a trustworthy means of creating an environment for a more equal form of action than legal disputes.
