| Description | The chapter has been devoted to the imagination in the Catholic culture of the 17th and 18th c. The theory of art, the structure and content of spiritual excercises, the emotions evoked by the images and the practical treating with images are considered. The authors point out that understanding the images with religious content recquires a combination of hermeneutical (symbolic meaning) and social-practical (material dimension) approach. |
