Description Clinical trials are a prerequisite for bringing a new drug into clinical practice. In recent years, we have witnessed an accelerated transformation of the clinical trials landscape, including investigator-initiated trials (IITs). The importance of IITs is growing with the development of precision medicine and the complexity of healthcare. The need for clinicians to be able to interpret and apply the results of these studies correctly is growing as well. Undergraduate and postgraduate biomedical students are realizing the importance of academic research. The lack of adequate education and training in clinical research and, on the other hand, the growing demand for competent professionals suggest the need to develop effective curricula to educate the clinical researchers of the future. The CONSCIOUS II project focuses on the development of educational materials for postgraduate students in medicine, pharmacy and other biomedical disciplines, especially for their role as potential investigators and initiators of clinical trials or members of study teams. This project is oriented towards the practical aspects of the design, planning, implementation and publication of clinical trial results, and therefore includes a section on the development of interdisciplinary skills that are naturally expected of investigators and physician-researchers in academia. In this communication, we will focus on the introduction of the upcoming pilot lessons, which will combine the information obtained in the online lessons with practical exercises and discussions between the teacher and students, and the project outputs we have already achieved in the project.
