Description Since vocabulary acquisition from a learner’s perspective is perceived as rather difficult, both in teaching practice and in foreign language didactic research, ways are sought to make vocabulary learning easier. The article presents the research design and selected results of a pilot study conducted within dissertation research. The aim of the paper is to present the strategies Czech learners use to discover meanings of new German words.
