| Description | The education of students with social disadvantages is a topic that receives attention, particularly regarding the effects of socio-economic background and support. In this context, the concept of student engagement helps explain the impact of the school environment on student behavior in terms of attendance or participation in school activities, emotions, and learning. Therefore, this study focuses on teachers' approaches to supporting the engagement of low SES students during lessons. The results, based on a multiple case study of 5 schools with a higher proportion of these students, form part of broader research on the implementation of systemic support for disadvantaged schools. The data indicate that teachers implement specific strategies to foster behavioral and emotional engagement, at the expanse of cognitive engagement. |
