| Description | Aim: Stress among university students is a global phenomenon that can negatively impact academic performance and mental well-being. Physiotherapy students face specific stressors, including academic demands, clinical training, and interpersonal relationships. The aim of this study was to validate a questionnaire designed to evaluate stress among physiotherapy students in the Czech Republic. Materials and methods: A test-retest design was used with a sample of 113 physiotherapy students. The questionnaire included demographic data, a visual analog scale (VAS) for overall stress assessment, and 12 stressor areas rated on a 4-point Likert scale. Descriptive statistics, Cronbach's alpha for internal consistency, Pearson’s correlation for test-retest reliability, and principal component analysis for construct validity were employed. Results: The participation rate was 64 % (72 respondents in the first round), with a retention rate of 57 % (41 respondents in the second round). The average perceived stress level on a scale of 0 – 10 was 4.58 (SD = 2.04). The most stressful factors were exams, thesis work, and study workload, while the least stressful were relationships with classmates and teachers. Cronbach's alpha reached 0.83, indicating high reliability. Test-retest reliability was r = 0.75. Principal component analysis identified five dimensions of stress explaining over 70 % of the variance. Conclusion: The validated questionnaire provides a reliable tool for assessing stress among physiotherapy students. The results can be used to identify key stressors and develop interventions aimed at improving stress management and mental wellbeing in this population. |
