| Description | Ames test belongs to routine tests of genotoxicity/mutagenicity of various substances. It is used in air, water, soil, biomass and waste testing, evaluation of mutagenicity of bio transformational products in body of human and animals. Specially adapted tribes of bacteria Salmonella enterica and other with artificially induced mutation of a part of histidine operon responsible for hystidine synthesis in a cell need for their growth additional histidine which are not able to produce by theimselves. Regression of histidine production ability and therefore normal prototrophic growth on medium without histidine comes due to influence of mutagen. Students probed manipulation with bacteria tribes, application of low concentrated mutagens into cultures and taking their effect away. They discussed about types of mutations |
