Description Gas crises in 2006 and 2009 significantly highlighted the question of the security of natural gas supplies, mainly from the Russian Federation. This topic is especially important and relevant for Central European countries be it due to their significant dependence on this supplier, due to substantial changes related to newly constructed gas infrastructure in the region, or in relation to the development of the energy sector at the EU level. Nord Stream, South Stream, Nabucco, the projects of liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies or the North South Gas Corridor – all these planned or under construction infrastructure projects are significantly transforming the existing logic of natural gas supplies to V4 countries, i.e. to the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia. At the same time, swift changes are taking place at the European Union level as well.
