Can I interrupt my studies due to maternity or illness?
A student has the right to interrupt his or her studies at any time in connection with parenthood, childbirth or pregnancy (but not before eight weeks before giving birth), and after for the entire recognised period of parenthood. The condition is the presentation of the child's birth certificate at the faculty's study department.
A request for interruption of studies can also be duly justified by serious health or other serious circumstances, but these arguments must be documented. A detailed report on the reason for the request must be provided as an annex to the application.
For example, a medical report is required for a disease, either with a diagnosis or a precise description of the disease, its onset, course, treatment, etc. Similarly, other serious reasons must be supported by relevant documentation. Based on this, the Dean or Vice-dean will then decide whether the request will be granted or whether it will be an interruption not counted towards the length of the study period.
