Description The monograph is devoted to the possibility of using sign language in the education of pupils with hearing impairment in a specific area - in science subjects. The book is divided into theoretical and empirical part. In the theoretical part is processed insight into sign language, lexicography of sign language and possibilities of its recording are introduced. Last but not least, the use of visual media in the educational process of pupils with hearing impairment is described with regard to their specific needs and teaching requirements. In the empirical part of the thesis is presented a research aimed at creating an online zoological lexicon (or bilingual terminology dictionary of Czech sign language and Czech language for the area of zoological terminology), to find out the attitude of pupils with hearing impairment and teachers in relation to its use and evaluate its contribution as an additional teaching aid in education. To achieve the set goals, qualitative research was used, using semi-structured interviews with pupils with hearing impairments and their teachers.
