Description In 2019–2020, semi-structured interviews were made with registered mediators. The data were analysed and interpreted and theoretical model and its basic analytical story of mediation practice from the point of view of registered mediators was created. The central category of the model is the reflected mediation practice of registered mediators, which is specified by preferred mediation styles and the practice of first meeting with a registered mediator is closely related to the category of the reflected mediation practice, because the content and length of the first meeting with a registered mediator significantly influence the mediation practice itself. We have found two types of opinions or interpretations of the goal and purpose of mediation. One type is characterized by the opinion that the primary goal is always to reach a mediation agreement, the other type is characterized by the opinion that the point of mediation is primarily to regulate relationships and achieve mutual understanding.
