Description In the field of thematic cartography we cannot allways to precise clear rules for scale changes. Reasons are usually a delimitation of the feature by expert or principal conceptual change of map content, beside this we need to accout changes in the topographic background. Reverse engeneering is usefull tool for rules identification. Reverse engeneering of generalisation rules is based on comparison of different map scales with usage of set of generic generalisation rules. Such rules are selected and paramerized, their application is evaluated and consulted with expert. Components and process of reverse engeneering of generalisation rules is described in article.
