What is new
  1. Doctoral study income means the possibility of combining the doctoral scholarship with a part of the salary for full-time work (not agreement to complete a job or agreement to perform work) in which you carry out creative activities related to the dissertation so that the total is at least CZK 24,960. This amount will increase in the following years together with the minimum wage, because by law the doctoral student's income is at least 1.2 times the minimum wage.
  2. The doctoral stipend for full-time doctoral studies for the standard period of study at MU is at least CZK 12,000.
  3. If you are interested in receivingdoctoral scholarship, you must apply for one starting in the autumn term 2025. There is no deadline for submitting this application.
  4. Doctoral scholarships are now usually paid retroactively, similar to salaries, with the payment date being the 10th day of the month.

These conditions apply to newly admitted students from the academic year 2025/2026 as well as to current students, in addition, regardless of the language of study.

If you have been awarded a scholarship to support your studies in a doctoral programme under the previous MU Scholarship Regulations, which will be paid even after 1 September 2025, you have a choice:

  • you can continue to receive this scholarship
  • you can apply for its withdrawal and then apply for a doctoral scholarship according to the new MU Scholarship Regulations (effective from 1 September 2025) with a guarantee of doctoral study income

You can check the scholarship amount calculated according to the new MU Scholarship and Bursary Regulations effective from September 2025 in the MU IS application Doctoral study income and then decide which option to choose.

Fulfilment of requirements of an individual study plan

What are the obligations of an Individual Study Plan (ISP)?

At the beginning of your studies, you and your supervisor draw up your ISP, which guides your entire doctoral studies. The content of the ISP reflects the conditions of study set for the programme by the doctoral board, which approves it by the end of the first semester of your studies

The ISP is completed and evaluated via the application in the IS MU.

What is the plan for the following semester, who is doing it and when?

For each semester, you will prepare a plan for the following semester in which you will set out the details of the study obligations arising from the ISP. This plan is then evaluated each semester by you, the supervisor and at least once a year by the doctoral board.

The plan for the following semester is filled in and evaluated via the application in IS MU.

How is the quality of doctoral studies monitored?

The fulfilment of study and research requirements according to the individual study plan and particular plans for a particular semester is evaluated by you and then by your supervisor, who gives approval to proceed to the next semester. At least once a year, your performance is evaluated by the doctoral board, which gives approval to continue your studies.

If the ISP fulfilment evaluation reveals serious deficiencies, the doctoral board will convene a meeting, which you can attend. Based on the outcome of this meeting, the doctoral board may propose to the dean the non-award, reduction or withdrawal of the doctoral scholarship and at the same time the date of the next ISP fulfilment evaluation or the termination of your studies.
