Czech President appoints new MU professors
More than 70 new professors received their appointment decrees from the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, and the Minister of Education, Mikuláš Bek, at the Clementinum in Prague. Eight of them (two women and six men) were nominated by the Scientific Board of Masaryk University.

On Tuesday 12 December, the most successful scientists or research teams at Masaryk University were awarded the MUNI SCIENTIST AWARD 2023 for their outstanding achievements, publications in prestigious journals and research results.

MU archaeologists uncover bronze belt buckle linked to unknown pagan cult
Archaeologists from the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University have made an extraordinary discovery near the village of Lány u Břeclavi, some 60 kilometres south-east of Brno. They unearthed a bronze belt fitting from the 8th century AD depicting a snake devouring a frog-like creature.

Mendel Refectory hosted habilitation ceremony
The Mendel Refectory at the Old Brno Abbey saw on 30 November the habilitation ceremony of fifteen colleagues from six faculties who have earned the Czech academic degree of associate professors.

We participate in key infrastructures
MU Research infrastructures are an important pillar of research and innovation systems.
Their significance is emphasized by our participation in 14 projects listed in the Czech National Roadmap for Large RDI Infrastructures.
Eleven of these projects are also part of research infrastructures of pan-European interest included in the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI) for 2021.
