Admission procedure

We coordinate and carry out activities related to the Test of Study Pre-requisites (TSP) and its evaluation, announce university-wide admissions, process admissions statistics, deal with requests for an extraordinary TSP deadline, answer applicants' questions and conduct appeals procedures regarding non-admission to study. Subject matter tests are responsibility of the given faculty.

Study matters

We handle appeals in matters related to studies in Bachelor's and Master's programmes - termination or interruption of studies, recognition of courses, etc. We do not take students' rights and obligations lightly and ensure that everything is done according to the regulations and rules.

Consultancy

The Student Advisory Centre is a specialised department of the Office for Studies, which focuses primarily on supporting students' academic success at MU and caring for their mental health and wellbeing. We provide sound advice or direction on academic matters, psychological counselling and advice on sexual harassment issues.

Scholarships

The Rector announces a number of scholarship programmes, for example to support students in difficult life situations or to support student activities. We accept and process applications for scholarships from these programmes. In addition, we provide centrally for the entire university the awarding and payment of accommodation and social scholarships. Every year we publish reports on paid out scholarships.

Tuition fees

We are the coordinator of the tuition fees agenda. We take care of the timely publication of tuition fees and process student applications for waiver or reduction of tuition fees set pursuant to Section 58(3) of the Higher Education Act (study prolongation fee in CZ programmes only). However, foreign language programme tuition fees are not subject for waiver.

Recognition of foreign higher education and qualifications

We accept and process applications for recognition of foreign higher education and qualifications in bachelor's and master's degree programmes in accordance with §§ 89-90 of the Higher Education Act. An application may be submitted to MU if the education was achieved in a study programme similar in content to one of the programmes accredited by MU. Personal and telephone consultations are only possible during office hours.

Lifelong learning, University of the Third Age

The Department of Lifelong Learning is part of the Office for studies, which mainly provides long and short-term courses of the University of the Third Age. Respect for age and exemplary care for the elderly (and other adults) is a matter of course for us.

Service to faculties, inspection activities

Our days include consulting and advising faculty departments, creating and updating methodological materials for study and admissions agendas, creating timetables and schedules (matriculation and graduation, academic year), regular reporting to members of the University's management and authorities. We also fulfil information obligations to registries, registers and other institutions (General health insurance company, ministries, etc.). In order to protect the rights of students, we carry out pre-planned checks in the entrusted agendas.
