Popis In the age of the knowledge society (Hargreaves 2003), university language centres has become the place where language learners learn not only specialty languages but also appropriate and develop other knowledge and skills relevant to their studies and professional life. This transformation is reflected, among other things, by changing the role of teacher to facilitator who stands aside, leaving the learner to develop his own way of learning (Allwright, Hanks 2009). The purpose of our paper is to share the experience of a tailor-made French course for students of international relations and related disciplines taught at the Faculty of Social Sciences (Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic). The course in question is built on a learner-centred approach and is part of the principles of the CLIL method (Content and Language Integrated Learning). The students are directly involved in the creation of the course content, which not only makes them more responsible for their learning, but above all to reinforce their motivation and personal investment. In addition, the integration of disciplinary knowledge into their choice conveyed by the French language is an important factor for a more effective improvement of language skills. We therefore propose to present the course design by situating it in a theoretical and methodological framework, evaluating the experience to finally discuss the results and conclusions that are proposed.
