Popis The ACE gene I/D polymorphism has been implicated in the development of MI, hypertension, and left ventricular hypertrophy. The goal of study was the exploration of the associations between the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) gene insertion/deletion (I/D) polymorphism and post-myocardial infarction (MI) left ventricular systolic dysfunction. A total of 450 patients with acute MI with ST elevations treated by primary PCI (330 pts without heart failure - Killip I, 120 pts with acute heart failure in time of hospitalisation) and control group of 200 subjects were available for study. Echocardiography was done from 3rd day after MI during hospitalization, left ventricular systolic dysfunction was assessed according to median of ejection fraction (EF) and end-diastolic volume corrected for BSA (EDV/BSA).
