University honours

Honorary Doctorates conferred by MU

Masaryk University in Brno awards honorary doctor degree (abbreviated as "Dr. h.c.") to prominent personalities, both Czech and foreign, whose contributions to development of science, culture or art are internationally recognised. The honorary doctor degree may be awarded for the science branches cultivated at MU. The proposals for honorary doctorate nomination are made by the rector and deans of the faculties. The Scientific Board of MU then votes for the nominees.

Great Gold Medals of MU

The Great Gold Medal of MU is awarded to the most distinguished domestic and foreign representatives of public life to appreciate their deserts of democracy and humankind. The proposals for the medals are made by the rector. The Scientific Board of MU then votes on the proposals.

Gold Medals of MU

The Gold Medal of MU is awarded to excellent representatives of science, cultural or public life to appreciate their outstanding deserts of developing science, culture or art and development of MU. The proposals for the medals are made by the rector, vice-rectors, bursar, heads of university institutions, deans of the faculties or heads of the departments. The Scientific Board of MU then votes on the proposals.

Silver Medals of MU

The Silver Medal of MU is awarded to the leading personalities for their major works, consolidation of MU significance, improvement of cooperation with domestic or foreign institutions or for deserts of development of MU. The proposals for the medals are made by the rector, vice-rectors, bursar, heads of university institutions, deans of the faculties or heads of the departments. The Scientific Board of MU then votes on the proposals.
