This project focuses on applied research with potential for technology transfer in the field of point-of-care (POC) diagnostics using biosensors. The primary objective is to optimize biosensors based on electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) to enable rapid and reliable detection of relevant analytes.
My contribution will involve the development and refinement of these biosensors to detect a wide range of targets, including proteins, bacterial pathogens such as Chlamydia trachomatis — a major cause of sexually transmitted infections — and small molecules like THC. By broadening the spectrum of detectable analytes, the project aims to expand the application potential of our technology.
The goal is to design POC biosensors that combine the sensitivity and reliability of laboratory-based methods with the speed, simplicity, and portability required for use outside of clinical settings, delivering results within minutes.
In addition to biosensor development, I will actively participate in ongoing research activities within our research group and support the further development of the already established spin-off company arising from our work, facilitating the translation of research findings into real-world applications.
