Popis This paper is focused on the medieval artifacts as potential sources of the complementary information about period Christianity. The first part of the thesis deals with the role of visual sources in religious studies generally. Next part proposes a method how to interpret medieval artifacts. Then this method is applied to concrete empirical material- mural paintings of Saint George killing the dragon located in the Zvolen region. Use of the interpretative method resulted in conclusion, that these murals were commisioned by local aristocrats. For them, these paintings were some kind of mass media, means of communication with local peasants and also with Kings of Hungary.
