Popis The present study examines the opinions of secondary school students on health issues from their own point of view and also the extent to which their school is engaged in particular health issues. The study involved 232 students from three types of secondary schools in the Trencin region. Analysis of their responses shows that 72.6 % of respondents believe that an individual bears all responsibility for his/her own health. At a significance level of 0.05 %, it was noted that statistically significant differences in responses to questions concerning regular eating habits exist (given options: yes – no). Most students who claim to have a regular eating regimen attend secondary grammar school St. J. Bosco. It was found that students believe that the most important components of body recovery are getting enough sleep and drinking enough liquids –73.5 % of respondents reported sufficient sleep as the most important, and 72.8 % of respondents reported a drinking regimen as most important. As for physical activities, students consider them to be highly important. At the same time, however, most students of all secondary school types stated that physical activity represents an issue of an average priority in their school. According to students, schools don’t pay much attention to nutrition issues. All schools focus their attention on “drug” issues, since their students mark it as “high”. On the other hand, the “smoking” issue is only emphasized at united secondary agriculture school, which probably discourages this phenomenon in their students. At a significance level of 0.01 %, statistically significant differences in responses concerning “HIV/AIDS” were found.
