The research involves Second Stage Elementary School pupils in Brno, Czech Republic. 355 pupils aged 11-15 took part in the questionnaire survey. The questionnaire revealed that 55.5 % of pupils have breakfast regularly on daily basis, while 10.1 % of pupils claim that they never have breakfast. Daily snack was reported by 64.5 % of pupils (62 % bring a snack box with home-made meal, 2.5 % buy snack in the school canteen). Merely 4.8 % of pupils have no snack at school. Concerning lunch consumption, there are 93.8 % of pupils who have lunch daily (75.5 % in the school canteen and 18.3 % at home). There were 5 pupils (1.4 %) who claim they never eat lunch. In the issue of afternoon snack the results were not satisfactory at all – 4.8 % of pupils eat their afternoon snack every day, while 13.2 % do not eat it ever. Eating habits of Elementary school pupils in Brno are far from ideal and the raise of awareness will be more than appropriate both for children within the curriculum and their parents – i.e. in the form of a lecture within the parent evening.
