Popis In the Czech Republic, considerable political and media attention has recently been given to rising energy prices, the bankruptcy of Bohemia Energy and other smaller energy service providers, and related impacts on energy-poor and vulnerable households. Hedvika Koďousková, energy expert, addressed these issues on the ENGAGER Cost Action´s final conference, a platform, which has successfully networked researchers and practitioners in the field for about last five years. The conference´s contribution discussed major lessons-learned from the latest development, especially the need to embrace “energy vulnerability thinking” next to simple focus on evaluation and monitoring of energy poverty in the country. What external and internal factors make households energy vulnerable, susceptible to energy deprivation? Where are the risks? Questions of that like may better identify strategies of energy poverty alleviation, but also prevention. The contribution has also identified several topics worth for further investigation vis-a-vis latest development, including media framing of energy poverty; impacts of last month’s events on everyday realities, practices, and norms of Czech energy poor, but also households previously unaffected by energy deprivation; and energy cultures surrounding fuelwood. Revision of “best practices” in the issue´s governance seems equally important.
