| Popis | In the present contribution the question of origin of the Greek word yéphi:ra "dam; bridge" with its dialect variants is solved. In the first two parts a survey of the text evidence and glosses is presented. The existing etymological attempts for both the internal, Indo-European, etymology, and borrowing from external, non-Indo-European, sources, are discussed and evaluated in the third part. In the fourth and final part, the most promising solutions are chosen. |
