Popis Nanoparticles preparation by bottom-up methods depends strongly on molecular precursors and the type and nature of the precursors have a decisive effect on their formation and properties. For example, Cu, Ag, and AgCu nanoparticles display surface plasmon resonances which are closely connected with their size, shape, and morphology. We synthetized several new copper precursors by reduction of Cu(II) salts of carboxylic acids by triphenylphosphine. The molecular structures of new precursors were completely characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction analyses. We examined also chemical, spectroscopic, and thermal properties of prepared precursors. AgCu alloy nanoparticles were prepared by solvothermal hot-injection technique from precursors based on Cu(I) complexes. Nanoparticles were characterized by various techniques and influence of precursor structure on the final size, shape, morphology, and optical properties was demonstrated. We showed that our synthetic route provides either Janus-type or solid-solution AgCu nanoparticles. Acknowledgements.
